Collin Kartchner comes to Sherwood

For a couple of years the SEF board has been talking about starting a campaign around anti-bullying and kindness. These problems have been increasing and the board wanted to help address them. SEF received a grant from the city of Sherwood to work in this area and board member Marie Boatsman came up with the idea to bring Collin Kartchner to Sherwood.

Collin’s mission was to help educate parents on the damage social media and 24/7 access to peer culture will have on their child's mental health. His goal is to help teens rise above social media comparison, negativity, cyber bullying, and the stress of being perfect. Every day Collin gets 100's of message from teens sharing how social media is hurting their mental health, and how his message changed or even saved their lives.

Sadly Collin past away suddenly in 2020, but his message for families remains. Social media has too strong an influence on our lives. He had an ability to reach kids and let them know that they have a value far greater than what can ever be portrayed on a small screen.
